Jack Beard (MSc) is a hydrologist with expertise in climate change, drought and water resources. His key interest is exploring how water resources challenges interface with ecology, climate and society. At FutureWater, Jack works on a wide range of projects, notably including water resources and climate risk assessments for development projects relating to water and agriculture. Jack has a strong interest in Nature Based Solutions to water and climate challenges and works on developing modelling and remote sensing techniques to guide their implementation.
His MSc. thesis research, conducted with KWR Watercycle Research Institute, focused on water balance modelling and extensive data analysis to better characterise the influence of drought on streamflows, with a specific focus on the reuse dynamics of treated wastewater. Through his BSc research within the University of Bristol hydrology group and subsequent position at a hydrological consultancy he has also gained experience in the field of flood risk and hydrodynamic modelling. Jack also has experience with teaching, having assisted with the delivery of a number of MSc courses whilst at Utrecht University.
