FutureWater started a regional assessment on water stress in the basins of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) countries. This Regional Water Outlook should give insight in the water resources availability and water demand for each sector with and without accounting for possible climate change impacts. The study is funded by the World Bank.
Water Outlooks will be developed for each country as well as for each basin in the MENA region, to ensure that both national policies can be evaluated and at the same time upstream-downstream interactions will be fully covered. The study is unique in the sense that for each basin and country the same approach will be followed, so that results can be inter-compared and will not be affected by differences in methods. The analysis will focus on monthly variation, rather than on looking at representative years.
